The Vasyli Forefoot Valgus Wedge is designed to correct forefoot valgus abnormalities, providing a customised solution for foot alignment issues. Forefoot valgus occurs when the forefoot's plantar plane is everted relative to the rearfoot's plantar plane while the subtalar joint is in neutral. To determine the correct angle, the forefoot valgus is measured, ensuring that the wedge provides optimal support where needed.
For forefoot valgus with a six-degree angle, the Vasyli Forefoot Valgus Wedge is designed to be posted at six degrees under the plantar metatarsal area. The thickest part of the wedge is positioned proximal to the fifth metatarsal head, offering precise biomechanical support to help maintain proper foot alignment.
Note that this technique is based on an "ideal rearfoot" with no deformity, ensuring a standard approach to forefoot wedging.
